  • Mark Sampson is the early frontrunner at 2/1 to take over.
  • Steve Evans and Garry Monk also among the top contenders.

Mark Sampson Leads Betting to Take Over at Newport County

Newport County have parted ways with David Hughes after a disappointing start to the 2025/26 League Two season, leaving the Exiles at the foot of the table with only three wins from their opening 16 matches.

Hughes, who confirmed his exit following a 1-0 defeat at Shrewsbury Town, admitted: "The reality would be it is going to be someone else's challenge moving forward... My time has come to an end."

With the vacancy now open, bookmakers have installed Mark Sampson as the early favourite to step into the role.

Sampson, who previously managed England Women and had a caretaker stint at Stevenage, is priced at 2/1 with BetVictor.
